The Solas

Welcome to Sola Saturated. This blog exists to glorify God by the proclamation of the pure gospel. We adhere strictly to the the Five Solas of the Reformation:

Sola Scriptura
Sola Fide
Sola Gratia
Solus Christus
Soli Deo Gloria

Scriptura—Our life and practice come from Scripture alone. Though creeds, confessions, and catechisms are profitable and useful to outline ones beliefs (and we do not disdain the use of these things) we are convinced that Scripture alone should be the rule and faith of our life. Where Scripture is silent or unclear about certain practices there is to be grace to the believer. However, where Scripture is dogmatic, we are to  be dogmatic as well.

Fide—We are justified in the sight of God by faith alone and by no means of our works. Our works do not bring salvation but as a result of salvation our faith will produce good works (fruit). Every true believer in Christ will bear good fruit showing himself/herself to be a true disciple of Christ. Fruitless Christianity is alien to Scripture, just as it testifies, Every good tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

Gratia—Our salvation and our faith comes as a direct result of God's grace. It is not because God saw something "good" in us which caused Him to give us grace. It was simply because of His good pleasure and love and eternal decree of salvation which caused Him to freely give to us. This grace is one that transforms the believer and causes him to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Christus— Because of Christ's work alone we have a completed and perfect salvation through which we may approach God. He alone is the author of our salvation and has perfected the redemption of the elect upon the cross. He alone has become their mediator between man and God. No other way of salvation is necessary nor is any other means of merit necessary. If Christ be not all our hope and stay and if He be not our only merit, for such as some men are pleased to pride in their own sanctification of works; then we cannot truly say we are in Christ for He alone has the glory of our salvation, sanctification, and perfection. As it is Written, "“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” (Re 5:9-10) If boasting is found in any other but the work of Christ alone then our salvation is futile.

Deo Gloria—God is in the process of working all things together for His glory alone. Believers are to seek His glory and in all things whether work, leisure, ministry, or monetary, we are to pursue passionately that which will bring God the most glory. We are to proclaim this glory to all the nations and diligently purpose to live for it. No other god shall have precedence in our lives for God is good and all that comes in our lives (good and bad) is from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation of shadow due to change (Jas 1:17).

The authors of this blog affirm and live by these Solas.
